EXERCISES IN STYLE IN STYLE

Exercises in Style by Raymond Queneau retells Queneau’s short tale ninety-nine times, taking ninety-nine different positions as an author. This is a series of posters for the narrative passage titled “Dream.” Using only black and white, each poster includes all of the text from the narrative. In my compositions I interpreted the surreal and mysterious feel of the story and expressed it through a mix of different styles such as sympathetic, ambiguous and representational. I focused on form and structure to communicate the different emotions of the story. Through text manipulation and experimental arrangement I conveyed the dreamy and bizarre tone of the tale.
