FORM RESEARCH

A documentation of my work made in Form Studio during my MFA at California College of the Arts, taught by Rafi Aji. The images are an exploration of process. Each week, I was assigned a verb to perform, such as “to differ” “to chip” and “to smear,” which I used as a starting point to explore different ways of creating. The openness of the project forced me to think and work in new ways. I learned to be more experimental in my processes, using familiar tools in unexpected ways. My images were made by mixing digital and analog techniques, often using scanner manipulation as a method. I treated the scanner bed as a canvas, moving objects around it as it scanned. Some examples of materials I used are peanut butter, tin foil, plastic bags and water.
