SIGNS OF GENTRIFICATION

Highland Park is a historically Latinx community in Northeast Los Angeles. Within the past 10 years, the area has seen steady gentrification. York Boulevard & Figueroa Street are the two main streets in the nieghborhood and thier rapid transformation can be seen using Google Maps historical street view. Going from 2008 to presen.  day, I documented 3 different areas in Highland Park to see the changes. The visual language of gentrication can be oserved through the style of signs and storefronts. Using P5.js I created a website that allows the viewer to click through the areas to see the evolution from year to year. In addition to the website, I risograph printed the screenshots of the streets and created a small publication.
